Jilo Tisdale holds a BA in Comparative Literature from Northwestern University, and a Master’s Degree in Education from The University of Michigan.
Jilo is an experienced educator with a unique background combining nonprofit, project management and research expertise. She is adept at taking projects from concept through implementation.
In 2000, Jilo served as Project Director for the Mechanicsville Community Learning Collaborative (MCLC), a $12 million education focused project managed by Enterprise Community Partners for the Annenberg Foundation. The project was recognized as a national model for impacting neighborhood revitalization.
For five years Jilo served as Director of Education Programs for the United Way of Greater Atlanta, contributing to a broad range of projects and providing oversight for grants to nonprofits focused in the education sector.
Jilo currently serves as Director of the Bonner Office of Civic Engagement at Spelman College where she collaborates with partners to manage a robust menu of engagement opportunities which ensure that Spelman students experience meaningful community service opportunities and authentic service- learning courses to develop the skills they need to serve as responsible civic leaders. Trained as a facilitator by Clarification & Mediation, Inc., Jilo serves C&M part-time as a Master Facilitator and Project Manager.
